Memorial Weekend 2005

Our 2005 “Rock Tour Number 9” was definitely one of the most interesting trips in Edge history!  Most members arrived on Friday with many joining us Saturday morning before our departure to Twin Cones.  We knew that Zach was in the process of building another beast this year, but we had no idea to what extent.  When he first pulled up the trailer with the monster on it, we were all blown away!  With 39” boggers and full 1 ton running gear not to mention the fuel injected 400 V8 this thing was ready for some hill shreddin’!  Of course Zach had a fully functional (and fully stocked) wet bar (including a blender of course) to keep all the thirsty Edge heads hydrated at camp!

We ran Twin Cones on Saturday, at least the group of vehicles that were up and running made it.  With my recent install of the 3-link front end, I had severe pinion angle problems and was forced to take it back to camp for some quick repairs.  Zach’s fuel pump decided to die about half way up as well…  The rest of the group headed for the top of the mountain.  There were really very few difficulties from that point on, until the big hill climb.  When Justin began the climb, a rock was tossed into his fuel cell area and completely destroyed the connector to the fuel pump and gauge.  Not being able to fix the problem on the trail, Zach and Justin loaded the TJ onto Zach’s trailer and high tailed it back to Denver.  While there, Zach found a suitable fuel pump for the Monster and blazed back to camp.  We enjoyed our annual steak dinner in full Edge style with the beverages of our choice.  Gotta say the brew tasted great after a keeler day of wheeling!  Zach, myself and all the helpful Edge Heads stayed up installing the new fuel pump and re-drilling the hole for my center link on the Crusher (thanks to Zach the master mechanic and the best crew in the world--TheEdge)!!!

Sunday was the king day of the weekend.  With The Monster back in running order and the Crusher back with mad articulation, we began the ascent to Twin Cones once again.  We had not a single problem until “Cap’n Crunch” rolled up with his trusty Grand Cherokee.  He decided to let the steep uphill rock section piss him off to the point of flooring (and exploding his rear locker in the process) his rig.  So chalk up 4 to Twin Cones and 0 Edge.  With Art down but not out we continued up to the top proving to Twin Cones that we were still the “Kings of the Hill”!  Here are some great pics from the trip… Enjoy!  Cheers…  Christopher…
