Kane Creek

With over 60 water crossings Kane Creek has to be one of the wettest trails in Moab.  It’s a perfect fit for splash specialists like The Edge crew. Aside from the river crossings, the deep canyon makes for some tremendous scenery.  The first actual obstacle we encountered was a steep uphill climb out of the river about 1 mile into the trail.  With just the right momentum it’s a blast launching you up the far bank.  After tons of water crossings the trail begins to climb out of the canyon.  This is where things get fun very quickly.  There is a shelf to climb that is no less than 3ft tall on its lowest point.  Low gears and lockers make all the difference in the world on this obstacle.  Everyone with our crew kicked ass straight up!  Unfortunately others with the group had a series of problems with that obstacle.  Everything from a damaged transfer case, to a near roll over for a Suzuki Samurai!  We then passed a perfect reminder to pay attention to the trail at hand when wheelin’.  It was an old CJ that fell off the trail into the canyon when the driver got out to take some pictures and forgot to set the e-brake.  Damn lucky they weren’t in when it plunged over the edge!   After allowing enough time for our mid gunner to cross the obstacle we proceeded.  The next noteworthy obstacle is an eroded rock stream crossing just before a stair step climb out of the bottom.  Lots of big holes set just far enough apart to prevent them being run cleanly with any momentum.  Once again, I was proud of our crew, we completely keeled it!  The rest of the journey was just a gorgeous drive out of the canyon!  WHAT A DAY!  Some fresh Moab Brewery beer tasted awesome after a run like that!

Cheers, Christopher!   P.S. Ask Bo & Deana what the Moab Police wanted when they stopped the Puncher!!!!!!!!!!!
