Jenny Creek 2005

Fathers Day Run

Jenny Creek never seems to let us down when it comes time to pick a run for Fathers Day!  With the snows that fell over the winter of 2004 and early in 2005 there was plenty of run-off making the stream very fun to negotiate.  We had no trouble progressing through the trail until the first stream crossing at the bridge.  The water was unusually deep and the rocks seemed to have grown.  This made it a fun challenge for the vehicles with less than 33” tires to manage.  James had a great time getting his Yukon hung up on a rock.  With a quick tug of the strap, he was under way again making foreword progress to the bulk of the stream driving.  It’s always such a blast cruising along with the water rushing in the opposite direction under you vehicle!

We continued on until it appeared that the trial was completely snowed in.  There were a handful of vehicles ahead of us from a local Jeep club that were attempting to forge their way through the snow to the end of the trail.  About half of the Edge Crew turned around and headed back at this point as it was getting late in the afternoon.  A few crazy members decided to carry on at this point.  With the powder packed by the previous vehicles the real work was keeping the vehicles out of the trees on the off camber section.  We made our way through only to learn that no one from the group ahead of us had even made it to the road yet!  With only a limited amount of daylight left, we decided to call it a day and head back for Denver…  What a great Dads day!  I couldn’t think of a better way to spend it, with the kids, The Edge and the mountains!  Cheers, Christopher…
