Wheeler Lake 2005!
This years run up Wheeler had to be the best ever! There were plenty of challenges beginning with the first obstacle! Were there’s challenge there is always the potential for carnage! Scottie broke a front wheel hub in the process of taking the toughest line on the second obstacle. He took it on back to Denver for some tear down action while we clawed our way up to the lake. We were surprised when we made it to the uphill boulder field this year. About mid way there was a nice dug out gouge with a massive rock placed right in the center of it (probably the cause of the gouge!). I got though with a little help from brothers ARB and some careful maneuvering. It took about a half hour to get everyone though. Once though we had a great time running up to the lake. We sat down and had lunch on the rocks enjoying the scenery. Some weather came rolling overhead and forced us to pack it in and head back. Everything went smoothly except one of Zach’s shackles lost a bolt on the way down. By the time he noticed it, his U-Bolts had punched a hole in his fuel tank. With a High-Lift jack and some epoxy we were able to make a trail repair and get the Monster back to Denver! What and incredible run! Cant wait until next year! Cheers, Christopher…
