When you begin to talk about Adventure, that’s nothing new to The Edge! In looking for a spot to view some aspen trees, the obvious choice was Bill Moore Lake trail… We thought we would try to put a different spin on it this year. We decided to make our way down toward the world famous Empire Hilton. A luxurious inn on a 7 rated 4x4 trail??? Well, maybe not a 5 star accommodation, but a place to rest if your traveling in the backcountry and need some sleep!!! A community cabin that has everything and anything you may need to survive for a few days in the woods. We donated a few things adding to the stockpiles that may need to be used by a traveler in the future. After enjoying the cabin for a few minutes, we cruised back up the other side of the loop… Finding a great place to have lunch, we stopped and enjoyed some grub in a very scenic valley. There were some great obstacles throughout, keeping us on our toes through the very tight trail… We got to the main trail toward Bill Moore Lake, and realized the weather was beginning to turn south in true Colorado fashion! As we descended the switchbacks, a hail storm turned the wet soil white in no time! Definitely one of the best runs of the year! Too bad it had to end so quickly! Cheers ‘til next time!!! Christopher…
